The theme that was used in this Web
Creation is stories. The title that was given to this web presence creation is
stories to tell. This blog presents interesting short written literature that is
written by not an official author but stories that they share nonetheless. The
stories included is stories that are chosen from different sites and authors
and will ensure different genre including romance, comedy, short stories and a
lot more. The central node that was chosen is blogger and the three
contributing nodes that I have chosen is Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. These
three contributing nodes are specifically chosen to accommodate my interest in
stories and writing.
Any post that is posted is about stories
that are found on sites that I find very interesting and inspiring.
The reason why Blogger have been chosen
as a central node is because it’s easy especially for newbie such as me. It’s
user friendly and does not require any technical skills.(Zaman, 2013). Since
Blogger is owned by Google, many fitted structures and amenities that are beneficial
for new blogger. Blogger sites that is hosted on Google servers ensures sturdy
hosting that enables me to use the site efficiently and seldom experience a
down time. It’s more secure to use Blogger as one of the features in Google is
their security to protect the details and ensuring the users privacy can be
kept. Besides that, Google will guarantee the sites to be indexes as Google
dominates the web, the post displayed will appear in search engines way faster
than self-hosted blog. Other than that, social sharing is made easy with
Blogger as it assimilates effortlessly with other Google web properties like
Gmail, YouTube and Google+.(Zaman, 2013)
Blogger also enable me to showcase anything
that I want and also works as a social network platform. Whatever that is
publish in a blog will always have a reader.( Rettberg, 2008, p.57) This shows
that the post that I post is sure to have an audience no matter how as long as
its online. Other than that search engines also allows specification on certain
topics. Search engines and more specialized services use links between blogs to
trace the pattern and connection between blogs.(Rettberg, 2008, p.58) For
example if a person search for stories, there are chances for people to find
your blog and read it with the help of the things that is typed in and
keywords. Blogger is also a good platform to interact with other bloggers.
Although blogs is exist in isolation, they are connected through comments,
permalinks and blogrolls such that blogs on a particular topic will developed a
conversational as the readers and writers engage with each other through the
medium.( State of the Blogosphere, 2008)
I can interact with blogs that share the same interest as mine.
The first contributing node that is
chosen is Facebook. Facebook is the most popular social network that is ever
created.( (Social Media Series, 2012)
Almost everybody that has access to internet has a Facebook account. The amount
of interaction that is used in this node is high. This node enables the users
to share and post anything using links that’s included photos, videos as well
as a normal rant. On Facebook also, spread becomes faster through every news
feed as long as it’s made public.( Rettberg, 2008, p.71) So a friend of a
friend also be able to see it and bigger network can be achieve. Furthermore, since
blog are not visible to casual observer, social network sites makes it easier
to announce the existing blog. (Rettberg, 2008, p.69) in addition to that,
Facebook also have search engines on the search field so it’s more convenient
to find people other than your friends or community that would be interested in
your blog.( Rettberg, 2008, p.69) The
things that would be posted in the Facebook account of course would be my blog
site and about authors that inspires other people such as myself and other
aspiring writers to write.
The second contributing node that I
choose is Twitter. Twitter was chosen is because of the twitter is a ‘rapid
responsive tool’ (Rad Campaign,2008).
Basically anything that is tweeted is not only can be seen by people that follow
you but also people that have twitter accounts. The featured that only allows
140 characters lets any audience that does not like to read have a brief read
through to see if anything that interest them then they would press the link
that is given. For example, I would post links in my twitter account and
anybody can screen through if they want to continue reading it or not if not
they could just browse through. With the publicity from twitter, it’s much
easier to gain more readers for my blog. Moreover Twitter have the hashtag(#)
features that allows the user to link to other users to see under the same
categories.(Murray, 2012, p.11) For example if I #writing and other people
click on that they can see any post that related to writing. This also allows
me to see any users that share the same interest and can specify my audience. My
twitter account will post my account but in addition I will also post up link
that is related to writing stories.
The third contributing node that was
chosen is Pinterest. Since my blog is all about reading, Pinterest is one of my
contributing nodes that permit me to show visual to stories as well as quote
about writings. It’s a good contributing node to people from my blogs because
it’s different than reading a long post. In pinterest, they let you have a
boards and allow you to pin any post that you find in any sites. Each boards
has a theme intended to provide some type of inspiration or tip.(Naik, 2012, p.18
) Pinterest also optimize keywords. For example, when users search for specific
topic like writing, the pins that I pinned will be the first to pop of course
according to the title of my board. This will let me to focus on specific
audience.
The blog and the three contributing
nodes that I created are interlinked with each other and the links can also be
found in my blog. The designed that I created is basically based on what I like
and what is easy on the eyes. Like for example, my template for blogging is
simple as I want a less distraction for the readers to read and the background
that I use is books to inspire me that one day I would be able to write a book.
All in all, this assignment is
definitely a challenging one especially to a newbie like me but with all the
nodes that I’ve created I tend to understand all the benefits about Web
Creation Presence.
